How to apply makeup - eye shadow application

Learning how to apply makeup to create dramatic, or soft eyes, is not the hard task many people sometimes think. Applying eyeshadow, takes a little time and the key secrets to gorgeous eye shadow is to blend, blend, blend...

For a bold eye shadow effect:

  1. Apply black eye liner
  2. Start by applying the eye shadow to the crease and blend down to the lid.
  3. Apply the eye shadow directly over black eyeliner and blend up towards the crease. These two steps will create a dramatic graded bold effect to your eye lid.
  4. Apply a lighter shade to the brow bone and blend.
  5. Apply the eye shadow to the under eye lid.

For a subtle eye shadow effect:

  1. Apply black eye liner in quite a wide line
  2. Apply dark eye shadow over the eye liner and smudge and blend upwards towards the crease, this creates a graduated softening effect.
  3. In the crease, apply a lighter eye shadow, blend this up and out from the crease to the brow bone. This will widen and lift the eye.

How to apply make up - Fall 2008 make up trend

The fall '08 make up trend is for earth tones, with some added drama. When looking at how to apply make up for fall '08, the key for the season, is to dramatize either the eye, or the lip. The black smokey eye, is not on trend fall 2008, far better is a muted, silver, gray look. This ties in so well with the overall look for this year, which has been towards casual chic.

Lips are going to be, plum, berry and deep reds this fall. Just remember, don't over do the make up.

How to apply make up - Natural eyebrow shape

A quick video today on how to apply make up, which looks at creating a natural eyebrow shape.

The easiest tool to use for this is a pencil.

Step1. Place the pencil against the base of the nostril and straight up and down. The eyebrow should finish on this line.

Step2. Place the pencil against the base of the nostril, angle the pencil to the outer edge of the of the iris, with the eye looking directly ahead. The highest part of the arch of the eyebrow should be along this line.

Step 3. Once again place the pencil against the base of the nostril, this time angled to the outer edge of the eye. This line is where the eyebrow should finish.

How to apply make up - Fashionable eyes

Fashion trends are certainly something we need to consider when looking at  how to apply make up and this fall the new trends can be made accessible for everyone.

The feather eye lashes, can be cut individually to create a dramatic look, without the enormous eye lash extension.

Vibrating mascaras, great, but do tend to apply mascara too thickly, but by using a dry brush, a great look can be achieved.

Not everyone wants the dramatic looks of some of the new peel off eye shadows and these can be used as shape definers, with the base color being brushed to create an even color, with some wonderful effect.
