How to apply make up - Foundation

How to apply make up takes a look at applying foundation and preparing the face for make up.

Before applying foundation, use a primer, which will add a layer of protection to help keep your make up last longer and as a result of adding another moisturizing layer makes you feel more comfortable, when wearing make up.

The key with foundation, is to find a color which matches your skin tone. You can test this by the speed with which the foundation matches your face skin tone, this should be achieved within 4 brush strokes, any more and the foundation is not the right color.

Another tip with foundation, is to apply it before using concealer. The foundation itself will cover blemishes, meaning you have far less foundation to apply, again making the make up more comfortable to wear.

After applying foundation, now is the time to apply concealer. Mix some of your foundation color into the concealer to obtain a great color match.

Eye lids, around the end of the nose and under the lip are the place most people find it useful to apply concealer. By using the foundation first, the amount of concealer needed is minimized. As concealer is an oil based product, you should lightly blend this into the skin slightly, unlike the primer and foundation.

How to apply make up - matte make-up

The key to learning how to apply make up to achieve a matte look, is to avoid clumping. If you are having photographs taken, the matte look is ideal, as it won't reflect shine, which can make you look as though you are sweating heavily.

1. Apply a primer to hold the look

2. Apply foundation, then blend outwards, from the middle of the face. Ensure the foundation is not translucent.

3. Use a concealer as a base for your eye shadow

4. Use a light reflecting concealer under the eye, to cover any dark circles.

5. Check you have an even appearance, with no blemishes

6. Use a loose powder over the face, including the eye area.

7. Apply a matte eye shadow under the eye brow and a slightly darker shade on the eye lid. - Matte eye shadows are easy to blend

8. Take a slightly darker shadow and apply into the socket line and along the top lash and blend

9.  Apply this to the under-lash line, to add further eye definition.

10. Use mascara

11. Blusher - concentrate on the apple of the cheeks

12. Use a lip liner, to define the lip.

13. Use a matte lipstick.

14. Use a tissue to remove excess lipstick

How to apply make up - Nude lip liner

How to apply make up looks at lip liners and more specifically, nude liners.

One of the considerations to make with nude colors on lips, is they can often look quite dead, so care needs to be taken with the individual products. I don't often look at a specific product, but in this instance, the Guerlain Divinora Lip Pencil 00 Cupidon is worth consideration.
